| Scot A. Weir was born and raised in the high-altitude college town of Laramie, Wyoming. He is a graduate of the Colorado Institute of Art in Denver, Colorado, where he received an Associates degree in Advertising Design. He also earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Wyoming. Scot became a full-time painter in 1992.
In the early part of Scot's career, he was a student of all trades. He worked at a bronze foundry where he learned the intricate facets of lost wax casting, and produced his own sculptures. He also worked as a freelance illustrator, and later paid his commercial art dues with a company that took him to three different states, eventually becoming Art Director. Scot enjoyed the financial security of commercial work, but felt he was being creatively strangled, so he returned to Wyoming, got married, and has since devoted all his time and energy to painting and family.

As a youth, Weir always knew that he would become an artist in some shape or form. He attributes the development of his God-given talent, style, and philosophy to three elements: his absolute love for history, art, and nature. The trio eventually came together and slowly formed the artist that Scot is today.
Scot feels fortunate to have grown up in the Rocky Mountains, where he often enjoyed backpacking. He says, " There is nothing like the vast open spaces of the American West. When I was young, I always felt that the most enjoyable and stimulating backpacks, were the ones where I encountered nature in its purest form, never seeing another soul." Consequently, Scot strongly believes in placing his subjects in creative, realistic settings with meticulous attention being paid to the detail of indigenous plant and animal life as well as rock types, geographic formations, etc.
Scot has 38 editions of his paintings plus two editions in bronze. He is currently being published by Wonderland Graphics and is a freelance illustrator for the Danbury Mint. In the year 2000, " Romeo " was selected as one of the top fifty prints in the country by US Art magazine. His prints are available throughout the country. His originals have been represented by galleries in Jackson Hole, Wyoming; Aspen, Colorado; Houston, Texas; Santa Fe, New Mexico; and Saratoga, Wyoming.
An award-winning artist, Scot has shown his work in major juried shows from coast to coast (from the Pacific Rim Art Expo to the Southeastern Wildlife Art Expo), with his main travels in the West. Collectors can run into Scot's work in such art communities as Jackson Hole, Wyoming; Aspen, Colorado; Vail, Colorado; Steamboat, Colorado; Beaver Creek, Colorado; Evergreen, Colorado; Las Vegas, Nevada; and Carefree, Arizona.
